Last week’s U.S. Open Cup Final was another great day to be a Sounders supporter. We were still in the pub when this went up, but we were standing in an unfamiliar location, just to the left of the tifo, and wouldn’t have been able to see it anyway, other than on the big screen. The view was disorienting from the corner, a strange curvature of the earth perspective, with play in the opposite half strangely distant. Luckily for us both goals were in the Brougham end.
And what great goals they were. For once, the (non-Arlo) commentator gets it right, Jeff Parke really caught some air to get that header. And Alonzo’s goal in the 95th minute was just amazing.
