Sounders FC 4, Colorado Rapids 3
It’s been an interesting week to be a Sounders supporter. First an excellent 4:3 win against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday that involved the Sounders coming back from being a goal down, twice – seems like a pattern. In this case it took the Rapids slightly less than a minute to score. But I wasn’t worried. The Sounders have been in such great form lately, aside, of course, from the poor defending that results in the team going behind, typically against the run of play, in the first place.
Saturday was a great afternoon. Highlights below. The only downside – aside from three soft Colorado goals – Roger Levesque managed to fluke in another goal, which means we’ll likely be stuck with him starting a bit longer.
Sounders FC 0, Manchester United 7
And then, of course, there was last night’s Manchester United debacle, erm .. game. No. Let’s be honest, the second half was a debacle. And folks are obviously a bit wound up about it. The Seattle Times poll: How much are you bothered that our reserves suck at marking Wayne Rooney, or something like that, currently has more than 2,000 votes, and 46 comments. That’s a lot.
The friendlies are always lame, this one perhaps more so than others. I feel sorry for the folks who were there and very grateful that the Sounders Front Office responding to public outcry allowed season ticket holders to opt out of the $80 plus tickets for the game. Looks like every other conceivable view has been expressed in comments on the Seattle Times web site, and if that’s not enough, many others – or maybe the same folks – have weighed in over at Sounder at Heart. Probably better to move on.
