I haven’t been by this house recently and was curious if Bettie Page was still there. The Bettie Page house is located in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood, near the northbound 65th Street exit from I-5, and clearly visible from the highway. It’s also next to a Mormon church. Painted in 2006 as a 30th birthday gift for the homeowner, Bettie initially generated some interest with neighbors and the city, as reported here in The Stranger. Graffiti or art? In Seattle it’s all in the eye of the property owner.
More recently Seattle Weekly made up a category for it in their annual “Best of Seattle” awards and it shows up as something to see on the Seattle “Not for Tourists” web site. I drove by last night and I’m pleased to report that Hackney Council does not appear to have been within painting distance.
