Freddie Ljungberg is the Seattle Sounders’ designated player, the one player exempt from the MLS salary cap. He makes the big bucks and last season it showed. This season not so much. He’s working hard, but things don’t seem to be going his way, or the Sounders’ way, for that matter. He’s constantly frustrated, throwing his hands in the air, contesting decisions and arguing with the ref for the “full 90”. This is the most relaxed he’s appeared all season.
The New York Times has the full and very amusing scoop on Freddie. He loves fashion. Check out that sweater. And the dog. Also, the contents of his fridge. He drinks organic milk. And has what appears to be a full bottle of HP sauce, presumably to remind him of his time in England.
But the real story for Sounders fans is that it is worse than we suspected: Not only does he live in a mansion on the Eastside, he drives a Hummer.
