Last week’s U.S. Open Cup Final was another great day to be a Sounders supporter. We were still in the pub when this went up, but we were standing in an unfamiliar location, just to the left of the tifo, and wouldn’t have been able to see it anyway, other than on the big screen. The view was disorienting from the corner, a strange curvature of the earth perspective, with play in the opposite half strangely distant. Luckily for us both goals were in the Brougham end.

The Sounders beat the Whitecaps 3:1 last week in Vancouver to claim the Cascadia Cup. The riot in the tifo is a nod to the Stanley Cup riots earlier in the year. The image is, of course, injured crowd favorite Mauro Rosales. It was a great game to watch. The Whitecaps, again looking a lot better than their league standing suggests, went ahead in the 22nd minute. I’m still not sure how that wasn’t offside. They managed to stay in front for just 11 minutes.
